Greetings,
The mIRC function could be a a lot more well attended. Of course the hard part is coming into the channel, seeing a few people, saying a few words, getting no response, getting bored then getting gone.
I have a marginal suggestions/solution.
First off just get into the habit of going into #Darift mIRC channel when nothing else is going on. I'm 'In' nearly 24/7 but of course I'm not just sitting there waiting…waiting….
Waiting for the lonely feeling to go away….
But when somene comes I used to miss it. But I found an assist.
Open up mIRC.
Go to the 'Tools' tab.
Select options.
In the pop up scroll down to the IRC option in the tree.
Select Options in the IRC sub-menu.
Check mark 'Flash on Channel' for all three options of 'Channel' 'Query' 'Flash'.
Or you just look at the pretty picture.

The fuction you have just activated will make the mIRC icon flash when ever anyone says anything in the channel. If you have mIRC minimized to the taskbar then it will flash, if you have mIRC minimized to the quick launch bar in the lower right corner of your desktop, then the mIRC logo will start blinking (Though it can be easily overlooked)
With this functioning a person can simply hang in the mIRC channel and not have to wait for someone to say something and leave when it doesn't happen; it's a lot easier to increase communication if we're all always 'There' in some form.
So don't just sit there, go do it.
See you in mIRC.
Or if you DON'T do it then I'll see you in your home…around midnight…I'll bring the chainsaw and rubber hoses.
I remain, as always,
Mad-Hamlet
