We all know that BioWare has announced a new expansion for Dragon Age: Origins and we already understand that our expansion will be stepping on the toes of the official expansion.  After one of the lead devs said:

QUOTE:
We will not be releasing any content that proceeds the Origins story line. Anything past the “end-game” is not within the cannon; “You ended the Dragon Age and a new age came about”.

Because of this we are forced to re-tool some of our efforts that have already been made, from the ground up on the story board. Thankfully some of the content we have created can be salvaged and re-used.

We will keep everyone posted as we re-work out some of our story lines and quest-cannon.

Last week, BioWare offered news both good and not-so-good to those not ready to put down the war banner in Dragon Age: Origins. On the positive side, BioWare announced Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening, a new, $40 campaign that sees players rebuilding the Grey Warden order following the events of the original game. However, the news came alongside BioWare’s decision to postpone the imminent launch of the Return to Ostagar add-on.

Whatever the problem holding up Return to Ostagar may have been, BioWare has apparently now rectified it. The developer announced today that the Xbox 360 edition of the add-on pack is now available. BioWare expects to roll out the PC installment later today, with the PlayStation 3 version due “soon”–possibly as part of tomorrow’s PlayStation Network update. The expansion pack runs for $5 (MSP 400).

Dragon Age: Origins Expansion Pack Announced!

Designed and written by the same team that brought you Dragon Age: Origins, the Awakening expansion pack offers a brand new area of the world to explore known as Amaranthine, featuring an epic story that will allow players to unravel the secrets of the darkspawn – and their true motivations! Players will face a range of horrific and terrifying creatures including an evolved, intelligent breed of darkspawn and other menacing creatures such as the Inferno Golem and Spectral Dragon.

Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening provides exciting new ways for players to customize their heroes and party, including the ability to re-spec their character attributes, allowing even greater customization and replayability. Featuring an increased level cap, new spells, abilities, specializations and items, plus five all-new party members, players can continue their adventures from Dragon Age, or begin with a brand new party.

Bioware today confirmed the rumors that were circulating yesterday about an expansion. Called Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening , it takes place in Amaranthine and features new enemies, new abilities and spells, specializations and items. The player can either carry over an old character or create a new one – a Grey Warden from Orlais. There will also be five new companions to recruit, but it’s unclear whether the original  companions will still be available. The expansion also features an arch enemy in the person of the Architect, a character introduced in “The Calling”, a book written by David Gaider set about 20 years before the game.

IGN reports today that a new Dragon Age official expansion called “Awakening” has been spotted and promptly pulled, but not quickly enough. Gaming news site Eurogamer reportedly saw the ad for a PC expansion on several online retailers, and Kotaku reported similar sitings of an XBox 360 expansion.  The reports are consistent though – the expansion had a release date of March 2010!

Our concept compliation is nearly finished.  We are still designing the landscapes in the toolset and adding characters however the concepts of the areas, monsters, and characters are nearing completion.  The canon of the project has already been developed with some loose ends to tie up here and there but we are happy to announce that the project is in FULL DEVELOPMENT stages.

What does this mean?  This basically details to everyone that we, still being behind in man-power, are ahead of the curve and release date of late February.  Affinity has been the main person getting our content pumping in the toolset itself and has been doing an excellent job.  We do have various kinks and “road-blocks” to work through right this minute, but the dev-team and leaders remain optimistic that the project will be release, even if late, beyond the quality of any community game add-in released to date.

A developers confrence is scheduled for the day after Christmas to discuss some of the more important goals and progress of the progress and the direction of community support and communications.  We invite anyone whom wants to attend to the confrence; however non-developers will be given observer (listen in) status only.  After the main confrence is over, we will hold a questions and answer’s session so any guest will be able to ask our developers whatever questions they would like (limit 20 guest questions — we will pick at random).
